THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
The average person has somewhere around 60,000 thoughts a day and 80% of them are negative. No matter how positive of a person you are, it is inevitable that some negative views will cross your mind at some point during each day. But that’s ok. While positive people aren’t immune to unpleasant thoughts, what sets them apart from others is they control what types of thoughts remain in their head.
You cannot always control what happens throughout the day, but you can be in control of your thoughts, your feelings, and your actions. Included in your daily thoughts should be ones around your dreams and your commitment to your goals. As highly motivated individuals, it is easy for us to get excited about what we want to accomplish in life. However, that motivation will only get you started on the journey. It is your commitment that will keep you going. That is because it's your commitment that will drive your habits and your habits will drive your actions. Those habits and actions are what will get you across the goal line.
It is important to remember that you always have two options: your commitment will drive you or your fear will. Which will it be for you? In my book, Move the Ball, I discuss that commitment is one of the foundational elements to achieving great accomplishments. You cannot conquer what you are not committed to. This starts with taking ownership over your life and what you want. I often use the phrase “own your game”. Without this ownership and a determined mindset, you only have promises and hopes, but no plans and no results. In order to obtain the results you are striving for, you are going to take actions daily. Your commitment and your approach are what will keep you moving forward even when you feel like you want to quit. You are either committed to mediocrity or you are committed to greatness. Which is it? What fills your mind will determine your actions. So, you decide. Are you going to control your mind or are you going to let your mind control you?
